Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 3, 2026
1. Overview
LogPeak ("we", "our", "us") is a desktop log viewer application. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we handle it.
2. Data That Stays on Your Machine
LogPeak processes all log files locally on your computer. We do not upload, transmit, or store your log file contents, search queries, file paths, or AWS credentials on any external server.
3. Anonymous Usage Analytics
With your consent, LogPeak collects anonymous usage statistics via Google Analytics 4 (Measurement Protocol) to help us improve the product. This includes:
- Application launch and quit events
- Feature usage (which screens are opened)
- App version and session identifiers (randomly generated UUID, not linked to your identity)
We do not collect:
- Log file contents or file names
- Search queries or filter conditions
- AWS credentials or S3 bucket names
- Personal information (name, email, IP address)
4. Opt-in and Opt-out
Analytics is opt-in. You are asked for consent the first time you use the app. You can change your preference at any time in the application settings.
5. S3 Connection
When you connect to Amazon S3, LogPeak communicates directly with AWS using credentials stored locally on your machine. We do not proxy, intercept, or store your AWS credentials or S3 data.
6. Landing Page Analytics
Our website (this landing page) uses Google Analytics to understand visitor traffic. This is subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
7. Third-Party Services
LogPeak uses the following third-party services:
- Google Analytics 4 — anonymous usage analytics (desktop app, with consent; landing page)
- Amazon S3 — accessed directly by your machine when you choose to connect
8. Data Retention
Anonymous analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics' default retention settings. We do not maintain any separate database of user data.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
