Timeline & Visualization
LogPeak’s timeline visualization helps you understand log patterns over time.
Timeline Chart
The timeline chart appears above the log table and shows log volume over time as a bar chart. It gives you an instant overview of when activity spikes or drops.
Brush Selection
Click and drag on the timeline to select a time range. The log table filters to show only entries within that range.
- Drag to select — Draw a selection on the timeline
- Drag the selection — Move the selected range left or right
- Resize the selection — Drag the edges to expand or narrow
- Click outside — Clear the selection and show all entries
This is useful for zooming into incidents, deployments, or error spikes.
Reading the Timeline
- Tall bars indicate periods with high log volume
- Gaps show periods with no logged activity
- Color reflects the predominant log level in each time bucket
Combined with the search bar, you can filter by query and then visually identify when matching events occurred.
Multi-Window Analysis
LogPeak supports multiple windows sharing the same log data. Open a second window to compare different time ranges or queries side by side:
- Right-click in the log view or use the application menu
- Select Duplicate Window
- Apply different filters or time ranges in each window
